Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Camper Junkies handles personal information when you use our website, enquire about Camper Hire or Campervan Furniture, make a booking or order, buy or use a gift voucher, use a discount code, submit a review, or contact us.
We use personal information responsibly and in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018, the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) and other applicable UK privacy law.
Who We Are
Camper Junkies provides Camper Hire and Campervan Furniture services. For the personal information described in this policy, Camper Junkies is generally the data controller. This means we decide why and how that information is used.
References to “we”, “us” and “our” in this policy mean Camper Junkies.
Contact Details
If you have a privacy question or want to exercise a data protection right, please use our Contact page. Our current public contact details are provided there so that this policy does not become inaccurate when a contact detail changes.
Information We Collect
The information we collect depends on how you use Camper Junkies. It may include:
- identity and contact information, such as your name, email address, telephone number, postal address and postcode;
- Camper Hire details, including requested dates, guest information, driving or eligibility information, booking choices and communications;
- Campervan Furniture information, including vehicle make, model, generation, wheelbase, configuration choices, enquiries, quotes and orders;
- payment and transaction information, including amounts, payment status and references supplied by Stripe, but not your full card number;
- gift voucher, discount-code and redemption information;
- hire-operation records needed to provide and protect the service, such as collection, return, inspection, mileage, damage, additional-charge, dispute and settlement records;
- reviews, display-name choices and publication acknowledgement; and
- messages, support requests, marketing preferences and any other information you choose to give us.
Information You Provide
You provide information when you complete a form, create a booking or order, configure furniture, make a payment, purchase or redeem a voucher, apply a discount, submit a review, respond to an email or otherwise communicate with us.
Please provide information that is accurate and relevant. Do not send payment-card details through a contact form or ordinary email. Card details are entered into Stripe Checkout.
Automatically Collected Information
When you use the website, our hosting, database and security providers may process technical information such as an IP address, browser or device type, requested page, date and time, security events and diagnostic logs. This information supports delivery, reliability, fraud prevention and security.
The website may also use essential browser storage to keep a basket or unfinished furniture configuration on your device. We do not currently use advertising cookies or behavioural advertising trackers.
How We Use Information
We use personal information to:
- answer enquiries and provide customer support;
- check availability, calculate prices and manage bookings, quotes, orders and fulfilment;
- take and reconcile payments, deposits, refunds and additional payments;
- issue and redeem gift vouchers and administer valid discount codes;
- operate customer portals and secure review invitations;
- manage vehicle handover, return, inspections, disputes and financial settlement;
- send service messages and, where permitted, marketing communications;
- keep financial, operational and audit records;
- protect customers, our business and the website from misuse or fraud; and
- comply with legal, tax, accounting and regulatory obligations.
Lawful Basis
Under UK data protection law, we must have a lawful basis for each use of personal information. Depending on the circumstances, we rely on:
- Contract: to take steps at your request before a contract and to provide a booking, order, voucher or other agreed service.
- Legal obligation: to meet requirements such as accounting, tax, consumer-protection and lawful authority requests.
- Legitimate interests: to operate and improve our services, keep proportionate records, secure the platform, prevent fraud, respond to enquiries and protect or establish legal rights, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
- Consent: where you make an optional choice, including consent to receive marketing. You can withdraw consent at any time.
Third-Party Services
We use carefully selected providers to run the platform. Their own terms and privacy information also apply to the services they provide.
Stripe
Stripe provides hosted Checkout and payment processing. Stripe receives the payment information you enter and returns transaction references, amounts and status information to Camper Junkies. We do not receive your full card number.
Resend
Resend helps us deliver transactional and service emails. This may involve processing the recipient’s name, email address, message content and delivery events.
Supabase
Supabase provides our database, authentication and storage infrastructure. Our Supabase project is hosted in the EU and stores the platform records and uploaded files needed to operate the service.
Vercel
Vercel hosts and delivers the website. It may process request, network, security and diagnostic information needed to serve and protect the site.
Marketing
We send marketing only where UK law permits it. If you actively ask to receive Camper Junkies news, we record that choice. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us or using an unsubscribe method included in a message, where provided.
Service emails about an enquiry, booking, payment, order, voucher, review invitation or operational issue are not marketing and may still be sent when needed to provide the service.
Security
We use proportionate technical and organisational measures intended to protect personal information. These include access controls, role-based administration, secure customer links, database security policies, payment-provider boundaries and audit records.
No internet service can guarantee absolute security. Please keep secure links private and contact us promptly if you believe information or a link has been misused.
Data Retention
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected, including providing services, maintaining financial and tax records, handling complaints or disputes, enforcing agreements and meeting legal obligations.
Different records require different retention periods. When information is no longer required, we delete it, anonymise it, or restrict its use where deletion is not immediately possible. Immutable financial and audit records may be retained where necessary to preserve an accurate transaction history.
International Transfers
Some providers or their approved subprocessors may process information outside the UK. Where UK data protection rules treat this as a restricted transfer, we require an appropriate transfer mechanism or other lawful safeguard, such as UK adequacy regulations or approved contractual protections.
Provider locations and subprocessors can change. We review the relevant provider arrangements rather than claiming that every item of information remains in one country.
Your Rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law may give you the right to:
- ask for access to your personal information;
- ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
- ask us to erase information;
- ask us to restrict how information is used;
- object to certain uses, including direct marketing;
- receive certain information in a portable format; and
- withdraw consent where consent is the lawful basis.
These rights are not absolute and exceptions may apply. We may need to verify your identity before responding. Please use our Contact page to make a request.
ICO Complaints
Please contact us first so we have an opportunity to address your concern. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK regulator for data protection.
Current complaint guidance and contact options are available on the ICO website.
Policy Updates
We may update this policy when our services, providers or legal obligations change. The version and dates at the top of the page identify the current published policy. Material changes will be brought to users’ attention where appropriate.
